New Year’s Eve marks the end of the year, but for season six rocker Gina Glocksen, it meant the beginning of a new life with longtime boyfriend Joe Ruzicka, with whom she wed. As PEOPLE reports, the wedding took place at the Century Memorial Chapel in Gina’s hometown of Naperville, Illinois.
The two were a musical match as well, as they met when she auditioned for lead singer with his cover band, and she got it! Gina’s school teacher husband proposed in front of a live audience while Gina was on the American Idols LIVE! Tour with her fellow AI peers. ‘”Joe is my strength, my best friend,” Glocksen gushed to PEOPLE.’
“Idol” alums and good friends Haley Scarnato and Jordin Sparks acted as bridesmaids. Jordin shared this touching statement about her friendship with Gina on her MySpace page:
“Gina is one of the most amazing people I’ve had the opportunity to know in this crazy journey. She’s kind, has a huge heart, is always up for anything fun, and she has always been there for me when I needed her. She’s one of my best friends and I would do anything for her. Joe, Gina’s husband, compliments her to a ‘t’. He has a smile on his face every time I see him, and he has a way of making you laugh out loud even if you don’t want to. I felt so honored to be in her wedding, and then to be a bridesmaid…I didn’t know what to say.”
Jordin also shared some details about the wedding, including the fact that she sang their first song, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”. Gina got in on the act by singing LeAnn Womack’s ”I Hope You Dance” for Joe and his mother. According to Jordin, Gina even put her own spin on the way guests toasted the couple. Instead of “clinking” glasses, the entire table had to get up and sing a love song!
This won’t be the only big event in Gina’s life this year. According to PEOPLE, she is currently recording an album in Nashville, and hopes that it will be released in mid-2009.
americanidol.com would like to extend a huge congratulations to Gina!
