On top of receiving some really nice reviews for her performance as Nettie in the Broadway musical "Color Purple," LaToya London is spreading the word about her new moniker. While she received her exposure on American Idol under the name LaToya London, she would now like to be called simply "London."
As she explains to the Contra Costa Times, "I love the name I was born with, but as an artist, I prefer to be called London." It’s not a bad move considering the likes of Madonna and Cher before her!
London and her "Color Purple" peers have some much deserved time off right now, as the Chicago run is over and the start of previews at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre have not begun yet.

Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson performed at this past weekend’s 12th annual Grand Slam for Children event in Las Vegas. Known as one of Las Vegas most star-studded and successful philanthropic events, this years event raised approximately $9 million for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation, an organization that supports recreational and educational programs for at-risk youth in the Las Vegas area.
Kelly was one of the headlining acts on a night that featured numerous top level music artists, Hollywood-style auctions, and celebrity appearances. The nights proceeds will primarily go towards helping complete construction of the foundations Las Vegas area K-12 Preparatory Academy.
