Melinda Doolittle charmed American Idol viewers everywhere with her rich, soulful voice and her humble demeanor. In fact, she appeared almost hesitant at her initial audition, having spent the majority of her career as a back-up singer. The judges and voters alike quickly reassured her that she is more than talented enough to sing lead.
After the show ended, Melinda busied herself with the American Idols LIVE! Tour, along with her fellow Top 10 contestants. Some of her performances included a Supremes tribute with LaKisha, "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," which she sang solo, and a duet with the often discussed Idol, Sanjaya Malakar. The two of them sang "Proud Mary." Melinda also performed at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Special with Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks, at which they sang "America."
