Americanidol.com’s James Pumphrey had the opportunity to sit down with Constantine Maroulis to chat about his upcoming self-titled debut album, due out on August 7th. While he calls the album "distinctly rock," he says it’s also diverse in that you will hear a lot of other influences in his music. The record is being produced by his own label, Sixth Place Records, which is an homage to his placement on American Idol.
What’s interesting is how long he waited to put out an album, unlike many of the other Idols who are quick to do so after their time on the show. This is mostly because Constantine has many interests and always has. He grew up in a family that truly values music and instilled in Constantine a desire to learn from a young age. His family exposed him to the many old jazz legends [...]

The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, continues to make a huge impression on the Billboard charts with her third album, My December. As Billboard notes, this album has taken Kelly where no Kelly Clarkson album has gone before. My December debuts on The Billboard 200 at No. 2. Clarkson’s first album, Thankful, peaked at No. 1 the week of May 3, 2003. The follow-up, Breakaway, debuted and peaked at No. 3 the week of Dec. 18, 2004. That No. 3 peak may be a surprise to some, given that the album generated five hit singles and spent a very long time on the charts. But despite its six-times-platinum status, Breakaway never climbed higher than third place. While Kelly missed the top spot as far as albums go, thanks to the debut of Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus, she does manage a No. 1 debut [...]

Former Marine Josh Gracin has returned from his tour of the Persian Gulf where he played a series of concerts in support of our troops overseas. Josh spent time with the troops in Kuwait and Iraq where he performed five shows, signed autographs, visited with soldiers in the hospital and even played basketball in 128 degree heat with fellow Marines.
The overseas tour, sponsored by MWR and Stars For Stripes, took Josh to Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and several locations in Iraq, including Kirkuk, Camp Speicher, Q West and Ballad Airbase. At the show at Camp Arifjan in Iraq, Josh performed for more than 2,000 troops, setting the record for the second highest attendance at the base.
This was something I just had to do, said Josh. It was important for me to give back to our men and women in uniform and bring a little piece of home to our folks [...]

Katharine McPhee is now following suit, and will make her studio acting debut in the untitled Anna Faris project. Katharine, along with Emma Stone, Rumer Willis, Kat Dennings and comedian Dana Goodman, have signed on to co-star in the comedy, which is being directed by Fred Wolf.
