James delves deep into the hometown visits with both of them to find out what they really thought about the emotional day. He also finds out how they think they’ve changed since taking on the frenzied life of an American Idol contestant. Considering a record deal is most likely a sure thing for the both of them, James also gets the skinny on what type of album they’d like to make, and even coins a new term for the genres–for Blake, it’s "electro-alt-funk-pop," and for Jordin, it’s "Jordin Pop," which is a mixture of a bunch of different genres.

The Top Three Idols-Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, and Jordin Sparks-got quite the reception in their hometowns on May 11th, and PEOPLE Magazine was there to cover it all.Jordin went back to her old high school for a pep rally, sang at Westgate City Center, and gave her fans a thrill while riding with a motorcade of police officers. But her uncle, Matt Wiedmann, hit the nail on the head when he told PEOPLE, "She’s a real family girl." Jordin made time for a dinner with her uncle, her dad, former NFL player Phillippi, her mom, Jodi, and her brother, P.J. Of course, she didn’t have much time to eat, as she was signing autographs the whole time. Donning a disguise, she even made time to attend her brother’s basketball game!

Carrie Underwood picked up three honors Tuesday night (May 15) at the 42nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards show in Las Vegas, giving her the most trophies of any entertainer at the event.
On top of being named top female vocalist, Carrie’s debut CD, the quintuple-platinum Some Hearts, won in the album of the year category. Her music video for "Before He Cheats" garnered wins for Carrie, producer Randy Brewer and director Roman White.
Upon accepting her third award of the evening, Carrie said, "I’d like to thank God for giving me so much that I do not deserve. And I’m crying again, because this is what I do at awards shows, so I’m sorry… My friends, my family, fans, thank you. God bless you. And, of course, the place that started it all…I would not be here if it weren’t for American Idol."
